ISLAMABAD: In comparison to the same period last year, Pakistan made US $382.925 million by offering various transport services in various nations during the first five months of the current fiscal year (2023–24).
According to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), this is a 7.28 percent increase over the $356.949 million received through the provision of services during the equivalent months of the fiscal year (2022–2023).
Sea transport service exports increased by 38.19 percent in the reviewed months, from $74.970 million to $103.600 million, a 38.19 percent rise from the previous year.
PBS data showed that while other sea transport services saw a 475.09 percent increase in exports from $14.010 million to $80.570 million this year, freight services saw a 62.22 percent decline from $60.960 million to $23.030 million in exports last year.
From July to November of 2023, air transport exports saw a nominal decrease of 2.15 percent, from $273.019 million to $267.145 million.
The exports of air transport services saw a decline of 5.19 percent for passenger services, from $180.080 million to $170.730 million, while a rise of 7.05 percent was seen for freight services, from $13.760 million to $14.730 million. Additionally, the export of other air transport services saw an increase of 3.16 percent from $79.179 million.
Additionally, it stated that throughout the evaluation period, road transport service exports increased by 75%, from $5.520 million to $9.660 million this year.
According to the data, the export of road transport services saw a decline of 26.74 percent, from $3.440 million to $2.520 million, in postal and courier services, and a reduction of 13.47 percent in freight services, from $1.930 million to $1.670 million.
