Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has instructed relevant authorities to develop a comprehensive framework for strengthening economic cooperation with Azerbaijan in the fields of investment and trade.
Chairing a meeting on the development of economic and trade relations with the Central Asian republics, especially Azerbaijan, he said that there are huge opportunities for trade and investment between Pakistan and Azerbaijan.
Pointing to Pakistan’s unique strategic location, he said that Pakistan offers a natural economic corridor through sea water for Central Asian countries.
The Prime Minister said that Pakistan and Azerbaijan have decades of brotherly relations.
He said again, foreign investment in the country increased due to the government’s business and investment-friendly policies.
Due to the great potential of energy cooperation with Azerbaijan, it was briefly reported that negotiations are underway to conclude a preferential trade agreement with Azerbaijan.
The Prime Minister was also informed about the measures taken to increase the volume of business and trade, potential and investment opportunities between Pakistan and Azerbaijan.
