Mardan: Under the Awami Agenda of Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the direction of Deputy Commissioner Mardan Dr. Azmatullah Wazir, an open katcheri was held for the minority community in TMA Hall Mardan today (Thursday). Members of the minority community from Mardan and surrounding areas and officers of various government departments attended. On this occasion, the representatives of the Hindu, Sikh and Christian communities presented demands for the implementation of minority quota in government departments, an inquiry into the violation of quota in some departments and to solve the drainage problems from the Christian cemetery in Baghdada. Retired sanitary workers from Mardan municipality complained that the payment of their pension is being delayed due to which they are facing financial problems. The 63 employees who were transferred from WSCCM to TMA asked that they be paid their salaries. The Christian community said that the honorarium of minority religious scholars should be released and work should be started on Cantt; Mandar in Yadgar Chowk. Additional Deputy Commissioner Iqbal Hussain praised the role of minorities in the development of the country and said that minorities have full rights in the constitution of Pakistan and protection of their rights is everyone’s responsibility. He issued orders on the spot to resolve some issues while assured to raise other issues at the relevant forum. Minority community representatives Suresh Kumar and others appreciated the role of the administration for taking interest in solving their problems.
