A man identified as Noor Hayat used to present water from a well to the travelers while they are on their way to Delhi.
Once a Sufi Saint passed by the location and Noor Hayat offered him a glass of water with great respect. After drinking the water, his heart cooled down and he asked:
“What do you want?”
Noor Hayat spread his hand and said: “Give me whatever you desire”
He placed a hand on Noor Hayat’s hand. Now afterwards, Noor Hayat earns one rupee daily. After some time, another person passed by the scene.
Noor Hayat also offered him water over which he also said happily:
“What do you want?”
Noor Hayat spread her hands before them, so they thought that some man had already gone, why not travel with him? So they did. Now Noorhayat started earning ten rupees a day. After some time, another saint passed by, and he also added a zero to the water in the hand of Noor Hayat, and he began to receive daily benefits.
After some time, a certain pole passed by, and he also said happily, “What do you want?” Noor Hayat spread his hand in front of him, and he added a zero more.
Now he was earning a thousand rupees daily. With each passing day, his financial condition changed and he became very wealthy person. He said goodbye to the well and got engaged in business and other activities.
After passage of few months as the first dervish (saint) returned, when he saw the wells deserted, he asked: “Where is the person who used to give water to the travelers?”
The people said: “Hazrat! He has left this work and is busy with his business.
The first Sufi asked the people to take him to house of the wealthy person. He met the wealthy person and asked him to show hand. The saint wiped out the ‘1’ from the hand of the wealthy man.
After the saint wiped out his ‘1’ from hand, the daily earning of the wealth person returned to zero. He suffered losses in his business and within few months, the wealth person returned to his original position. At last, he once again had to resume his job of presenting water to the travelers from the said well.
