Parents take great care of their children especially during their childhood and make assure all possible facilities for them. They bear all hardship but never want to see their children in any problem.
These efforts continue till they grow up and even get married. They are also not tired served for their grandchildren.
However, when the parents grow elder and physically weak, the children soon seemed to be tired of taking care of them. They often ignore them and avoid fulfilling their needs excusing one or other reason.
Here is the story of a such ignorant person who used to degrade his elderly father but was taught a great lesson by his own son.
As the elderly man was not able to walk on his own foot, he used to hold beautifully painted walls of the house due to which their colour started to depreciate.
The wife of the son complained that your father has ruined the beautiful colour of walls of our house. Once the elderly man massaged his head with oil and his hands having oil on them left finger prints on the coloured wall. The woman got furious over mistake of elderly father-in-law and along with her husband scolded him. He felt ashamed of his mistake but did not speak a single word in response.
The elderly man was sickened due to misbehave of his son and daughter-in-law. One day as he was trying to walk without holding wall, slipped, fell down and passed.
After few months, the couple decided to get the walls of their house painted to remove the finger prints left on wall due to oil.
When the painter came and started painting the house, the son of house owner and grandson of deceased who was greatly attached with grandfather did not allow the painters to clean up his fingerprints and paint over those areas.
The painters were very nice and innovative person made a beautiful circle around the finger prints and created a unique design. Now those prints became a part of their house. Everyone who came to their house praised this unique design.
With the passage of time, the couple also turned elder and weak. The diseases weakened them physically and a time came when they were not able to walk without a support. Remembering their maltreatment and asking father of not holding wall to walk, they avoided to hold the wall.
However, their son was a nice man who took special care of them. His wife was also a caring lady.
One day, son saw his father attempting to walking without support of wall. He along with his wife visited the room of his parents and asked them to don’t walk without support as it result into any mishap. He informed his parents, “Walls and all what present in the house has no value against your love. You don’t need to take care of things but your health and pleasures are more precious for me than these things.”
Hearing these words of their son, the couple remembered their attitude toward father and forbidding him to hold walls which resulted in his death.
They started crying over the situation, regretting and apologizing for what they had done. But, now was useless to remorse as the time had passed and regret can’t help in this connection.
Take special care of your elders and also teach same lesson to your children. Tell your family members that these elders are valuable, not walls and things.
