LAHORE: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has suspended the announcement of the men’s T20 World Cup in Green after expressing displeasure with the selection process.
According to sources, Naqvi was unhappy that a proper meeting was not held before finalizing Pakistan’s T20 World Cup squad. However, he has no objection against the players selected in the team.
Naqvi also wrote to the selection committee members asking for clarification on the matter.
Sources also revealed that the minutes of the meeting held by the selection committee were not shared with Naqvi, much to the displeasure of the PCB chairman.
Teams will not be announced until the selection committee has completed all work.
Sources informed that the required squad will be finalized in the next three hours after which the squad will be announced.
The deadline for team announcements is May 25 and any changes after that will require the approval of the ICC Events Technical Committee.
Pakistan is in Group A of the event along with India, Ireland, Canada and USA.
