SWAT: Advisor to the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Finance Muzammil Aslam said that the Solid Waste Management Program has proven to be an important initiative for the development of Swat’s tourist destinations.
The steps taken by the Sub-National Governance in the tourism area related to solid waste management are highly commendable.
He expressed these views while addressing a seminar titled “Effective Strategy for a Green Tomorrow” under the Solid Waste Management Program in collaboration with the Sub-National Governance at the local hotel Saidu Sharif in Swat district.
The seminar was attended by Secretary Local Government Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Amber Ali, Commissioner Malakand Division Abid Wazir, Deputy Commissioner Swat Shahzad Mehboob, Mayor Tehsil Babuzai Shahid Ali Khan, Tehsil Chairman Barikot Tehsil Kashif Khan, Tehsil Chairman Bahrain Mian Shahid Ali, SNG team Dr. Raheel Siddiqui, Dr. Waqar Ahmed Senior Governance Advisor and other relevant government officers and experts, among others.
In the seminar, the TMOs of Babuzai Tehsil, Bahrain Tehsil, along with the Mayor and Chairman, Oxford Policy Management and Sub-National Governance experts and government officials highlighted the achievements and future plans of the pilot project related to solid waste management in Babuzai Tehsil and Bahrain Tehsil and also gave a detailed briefing to the participants of the event, while videos, pictures and other exhibits of the results of the pilot projects were also viewed on a large screen.
“It was informed in the briefing that the pilot project was very successful with the technical assistance of WSSC Swat in Babuzai Tehsil and TMA in Bahrain Tehsil and the local people appreciated it in wonderful words.”
SNG experts expressed their determination to extend seminars on solid waste management to other districts, saying that cleanliness and beautification of other districts of the province are important parts of our program.
In the seminar, the panel of experts also answered the important questions of the participants and benefited the people with their experiences and opinions.
In their addresses, Secretary Local Government Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Amber Ali, Commissioner Malakand Division Abid Wazir and other distinguished speakers paid tribute to the services of WSSC, TMA Bahrain and Sub-National Governance on the successful pilot project in Tehsil Babuzai and Tehsil Bahrain and assured all kinds of cooperation.
Advisor to the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Finance Muzammil Aslam said that the successful solid waste management program in various tourist tehsils of Swat will prove to be a model in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, added that the promotion of beauty, cleanliness will not only bring economic development but also make it possible to eliminate environmental pollution.
He said that rural development and prosperity are among the top priorities of the current provincial government and adequate steps are being taken to provide basic facilities to the people at their doorsteps and the resources will be used for the better future of the people.
Later, Advisor to the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Finance Muzammil Aslam also presented certificates of appreciation to Mayor Tehsil Babuzai Shahid Ali Khan and Tehsil Chairman Bahrain Mian Shahid Ali and their team for the successful pilot project of solid waste management in Tehsil Babuzai and Tehsil Bahrain.
