ISLAMABAD: Pakistan-China Institute Chairman Mushahid Hussain Sayed has congratulated renowned artist Misbah Uddin Qazi for being awarded the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz civic award in recognition of his remarkable contribution in the field of visual arts.
Mushahid Hussain, who was Federal Minister for Information and Culture in the 1990s, recalled the old golden days when Mr. Qazi served PNCA under the administrative control of his ministry. “I am glad that the government of Pakistan has finally recognized your extraordinary contribution to showcase natural beauty in the form of paintings and landscapes,” he said, stressing that fine artists are a valuable asset of the nation, who have played a key role in promoting the soft arts. image of the country as well as preserving the country’s rich culture, identity and heritage.
Artist Qazi praised that the Ministry of Culture under the then Minister Mushahid Hussain had achieved many accolades at the national and international levels.
Qazi is a fine arts graduate from the Punjab University, Lahore, who went on a government scholarship to the University of Perugia in Italy to learn from excellence in fine arts. He is also one of the founding officers of the Pakistan National Council for the Arts (PNCA), from which he retired as the Director of Visual Arts in 2006 after 33 years of service. Even after retirement, he is actively promoting and highlighting the positive image of Pakistan through his paintings of various beautiful places across the country.
