RAWALPINDI: The Meteorological Department’s snowfall forecast for “The Queen of the Hills” in Murree on Tuesday prompted the district administration to place all relevant departments on high alert.
A representative for the Murree district administration stated that rain and snow were predicted by the MET office for Murree on Tuesday night and Wednesday.
The weather in Murree, Galliyat, and the neighboring areas would be cold and partly cloudy throughout this period, in addition to moderate to heavy rain and snowfall.
It is expected to be between 0 and 2 degrees Celsius at minimum and between 7 and 9 degrees Celsius at maximum.
The district government issued an advise to tourists and placed all relevant agencies on high alert due to the probability of snowfall. It was suggested to the tourists to take every safety precaution.
He advised that travelers should check the weather before traveling to Murree and that tire chains are required in snowy conditions.
In order to maintain a steady flow of traffic on the roadways, the tourists were also asked to abide by the traffic laws.
He disclosed that thirteen tourist facilitation centers had been set up in different locations to assist and direct visitors.
