SWAT: Swat river swallowed 4 youths in the last 2 days while one child died after drowning in Daral Khwar of Bahrain in Swat district. The bodies of two people who drowned have been recovered, while the search for the other three people is ongoing.
According to the police, 14-year-old Hamza r/o Tahirabad Mingora drowned while taking a bath in the river Swat at the Kanju bridge near Mingora bypass on Tuesday. His body was retrieved from the river at Dadhara by volunteer sailor Mohammad Hilal r/o Aligrama and handed over to the rescue team.
According to the police, a young man was drowned by the merciless waves while taking a bath in the Swat river at Sherpalam area of Matta Tehsil. The search for the body of S is in progress.
Earlier on Monday, two cousins Irfan Ali and Gohar Ali also drowned in the Swat river at Manglawar area of Mingora. Out of which the dead body of Gohar Ali was found while the search for the dead body of Irfan Ali is going on.
Apart from this, a ten-year-old boy Subhan son of Jibran in Bahrain Tehsil is still missing after drowning in Daral Khwar.
On the other hand, taking notice of the increasing drowning incidents, District Magistrate Swat/Deputy Commissioner Swat Shahzad Mehboob has imposed a complete ban on bathing, swimming and boating in the Swat River under Section 144 of the Criminal Code. According to the decree, legal action will be taken under Section 188 of the Penal Code of Pakistan.
