SWAT: The Urban Area Development Authority and Climate Change Warriors jointly inaugurated the monsoon plantation campaign at Sector B Park today. The event was attended by Mehran Khan, Director of the Urban Area Development Authority, Deputy Director Adnan Sardar, Sherin Zada, Chairman of Swat Press Club, climate change activists, civil society members, and people from various walks of life.
Deputy Director Adnan Sardar spoke to the media, stating, “During this monsoon season, we will plant 3,800 saplings. I emphasize that nurseries often sell non-native plants, and people, without proper research, plant these, which can be more harmful than beneficial. Therefore, priority should be given to local and beneficial plants.”
Sherin Zada, Chairman of Swat Press Club, addressed all participants, saying, “Climate change is an undeniable reality, and the media’s role is crucial. We stand alongside civil society and other institutions on this global issue.”
On this occasion, Azhar Uddin, an active climate change activist, spoke about the importance of plants, stating, “Climate change is at its peak, and we are experiencing its dangerous effects. The only way to mitigate these effects is through the maximum planting of trees and the protection of forests.”
All the participants showed willingness to plant in their surroundings to combat the issue of global warming and climate change.
