Deputy Commissioner Yasir Riaz and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Khawar Ali Shaukat emphasized that ensuring law and order, protecting lives and property, and eliminating drugs and other social evils are the fundamental responsibilities of magistrates and police officers in the Mirpur district. They urged magistrates and police officers to play a pivotal role in price control, traffic management, and the prosecution of court cases. They also called for strict adherence to the rule of law, with no tolerance for offenders.
These remarks were made during a meeting with police magistrates, which was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner General Raja Umar Tariq, Assistant Commissioner Mirpur Raja Zahid Hussain, SP Raja Amir Shehzad Nawabi, Assistant Commissioner Dadyal Syed Yasser Ali Bukhari, Officer Revenue Syed Kaleem Abbas Shah, Tehsildar Imran Yousaf, Tehsildar Islamgarh Humam Shafiq Kayani, along with DSPs and SHOs.
During the meeting, officials were directed to closely monitor the overall law and order situation in collaboration with police magistrates and to take strict action against criminals. It was stressed that price control committees should be made active, and efforts to enhance security and police patrolling should be strengthened to provide relief to citizens.
The Deputy Commissioner urged police officers to ensure effective law enforcement across the district, particularly in areas such as price control, crime prevention, drug eradication, and traffic management. He also emphasized strict discipline and attendance in all offices to reflect the government’s commitment to good governance.
SSP Khawar Ali Shaukat highlighted that Mirpur police had recently arrested two suspects linked to an international drug smuggling network. Investigations have led to further arrests, along with the recovery of significant quantities of drugs and illegal weapons. He commended the police force for their dedication and assured them of full support.
He also instructed officers to remain vigilant against criminal activities in their respective areas and to monitor suspicious individuals. He emphasized that any disruption to public order should be dealt with strictly according to the law. SSP Shaukat noted that the police’s exemplary performance over the past month had dismantled several criminal networks, and efforts must continue to ensure these networks do not regroup.
Concluding, he stressed the importance of keeping Mirpur a peaceful and crime-free district. He directed the police to remain on high alert and use various means of monitoring to maintain law and order.
