LAHORE: Punjab Local Government Minister Zeeshan Rafiq on Thursday directed waste management companies to conduct special campaigns to raise public awareness about zero waste environment.
During a video conference of CEOs of waste management companies across the province held at the Civil Secretariat, the minister reviewed the plan for an effective and sustainable sanitation system in the province.
Local Government Secretary Shakeel Ahmad Mian and Additional Secretary Maria Tariq also attended the meeting. The CEOs of the companies reported on the progress so far in their fields.
Minister Zeeshan Rafiq said that Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s vision was to introduce a uniform sanitation system in the entire Punjab.
Zeeshan Rafiq said that sanitation issues can be addressed through outsourcing system.
The minister directed that the waste management companies should complete the outsourcing process as per the time frame and accordingly the targets set by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif should be achieved.
