Soon, users will be able to add their WhatsApp account to the Accounts Center. The Accounts Center is a hub that helps manage Facebook, Instagram, and Meta Quest accounts.
After adding WhatsApp to the Accounts Center, users will be able to cross-post their WhatsApp status as stories on Instagram and Facebook, meaning they won’t need to open the Facebook or Instagram app separately to post their WhatsApp status.
Additionally, a single sign-on feature will be enabled, allowing users to log into multiple Meta apps using one account, similar to how a Facebook account can be used to access Instagram.
According to a report by WABetaInfo, linking the WhatsApp account to the Accounts Center will be optional and disabled by default, meaning users will have to enable it manually once it becomes available.
Meta has assured that despite the addition of the Accounts Center, WhatsApp users’ messages and calls will continue to be protected with end-to-end encryption, ensuring no one can access them.
The Accounts Center was introduced by Meta in 2020 to help users connect with the company’s apps from one place, and currently allows the management of Facebook, Instagram, and Meta Quest accounts.
The report indicates that the process of adding WhatsApp to the Accounts Center has begun, but it will take several months for it to be rolled out globally. Once available, users will find the option in the WhatsApp settings.
