MADRID: Kylian Mbappe will miss Real Madrid’s upcoming derby with Atletico Madrid at the weekend due to a thigh injury. In this regard, the Spanish champion officially announced on Wednesday: “Following the tests carried out today by the medical services of Real Madrid on our player Kylian Mbappe, he has been diagnosed with an injury to the biceps femoris of his left leg.” Earlier on Tuesday, the French superstar had to leave the pitch during the match against Alaves due to discomfort. Meanwhile, Real Madrid beat Alaves 3-2. Coach Carlo Ancelotti called it a “knock” in the post-match presentation. “Mbappe asked for a change to avoid any problems,” he said. According to ESPN, citing sources, the French superstar is expected to have a three-week break, which will see him miss matches with Lille in the Champions League and Villarreal in La Liga and the international break with France. He has scored five goals in La Liga so far and his best strike this season came against Alaves.
