LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has called on citizens to support the government in enforcing the law banning the manufacture, sale and use of plastic bags.
“Today we are renewing our commitment to end the use of plastic bags in Punjab,” the CM said in his speech on World Plastic Bag Free Day.
The CM stressed that plastic pollution is a threat to the environment and called for urgent action to tackle the problem. “Our aim is to create a plastic Punjab by protecting our rivers, parks and cities from plastic pollution,” he said.
Prime Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif said the ‘No Plastic’ campaign aims to reduce plastic waste and develop sustainable alternatives, adding, “By limiting the use of plastic, we can ensure a clean and healthy environment for future generations.”
The Prime Minister said that cities should use biodegradable bags instead of plastic bags and said that the harmful effects of plastic on our health and environment cannot be ignored.
Maryam Nawaz Sharif said that adopting environmentally friendly alternatives can significantly reduce the impact on the environment. He thanked government officials, environmental activists and the public for the “No Plastic” campaign.
