LAHORE:- Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has said that Parliament is the foundation of democracy by protecting the principles of justice and equality in society.
In his letter marking International Parliament Day, the Chief Minister paid tribute to members of the National and Provincial Assemblies and stressed the importance of renewing their commitment to uphold the principles of democracy.
The CM said that the parliamentary system ensures transparency, accountability and effective representation of people in government.
He said, every individual and organization has an important role in strengthening parliamentary institutions.
Maryam praised parliamentarians who strive to protect democratic values and justice, and stressed the need for a credible parliament to protect human rights.
The prime minister said that the power of democracy lies in the life of parliamentary institutions.
Maryam announced the creation of a parliamentary development unit in the Punjab Assembly, which aims to support members of parliament in accordance with democratic principles.
