LAHORE: United States Ambassador Donald Blome and Consul General Lahore Kristin Hawkins discussed steps to increase trade opportunities between Pakistan and the US during a meeting with Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Muhammad Nawaz Sharif. Issues of common interest, promotion of Pakistan-US relations and cooperation in various fields were discussed in the meeting. Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said, “Pakistan and the US have excellent cordial relations and we are determined to strengthen them. There is huge potential in trade between Pakistan and the US which needs to be tapped. The government has achieved remarkable achievements in several sectors in a short period of time. She said Pakistan is safer and more peaceful compared to the past. “The PML-N government has set new standards of good governance and transparency. Pakistan has achieved great success in the war against terrorism and extremism,” she added. During his visit to Lahore, Ambassador Blome emphasized his government’s commitment to the US-Pakistan Green Alliance framework to address climate change, food security and energy issues. He visited Zyp Technologies and emphasized: “Tackling global challenges like climate change requires creativity, strong partnerships and diverse perspectives.” He also visited Agrilift AI Private Limited, a precision agriculture company that has received support from the US government.
