MARDAN : Hospital Director Prof. Dr. Muhammad Fazil, said that Accident and Emergency Department is the first point of care for patients requiring urgent medical attention adding acknowledging its importance, the administration is implementing significant reforms there aimed at delivering prompt, high-quality and timely medical assistance to improve patient outcomes.
He shared these views during an unannounced visit to the Accident and Emergency Department. Focal person Dr. Qaism Khan briefed the Hospital Director on the department’s overall operations, highlighting key areas of progress and challenges.Prof. Dr. Muhamad Fazil said that a comprehensive plan has been chalked out to enhance patient care services within the Emergency Department. He said under the plan, 14-bed fully equipped surgical and medical wards are being established to ensure critical patients receive immediate and specialized care. He added that the Surgical and Medical Departments will provide dedicated doctors for these new facilities which will help improve the department’s capacity to handle emergencies efficiently.
During his visit, the Hospital Director inspected key areas, including the chest pain unit, trauma room, minor operation theater, and satellite pharmacy, checking the availability of essential medicines.
He also reviewed the designated spaces for the new surgical and medical wards and assessed the preparations for their setup.
Additionally, Dr. Fazil evaluated staff punctuality, cleanliness, and patient records, including the number of cases handled by medical, orthopedic, and surgical doctors, as well as surgeries performed in the minor operation theater over the past 24 hours.
The HD engaged directly with patients and their attendants to gather feedback on the quality of healthcare services, staff behavior, and the availability of medicines. Earlier, Focal person Accident and Emergency Department Dr Qasim Khan informed the Hospital Director about the establishment of a dedicated counter to streamline the admission process for patients in the soon-to-be-operational surgical and medical wards.
