Mardan: Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Water and Sanitation Service Company Mardan (WSSCM) Shahid Khan visited sewerage treatment plant (STP) and inspected the ongoing developmental work on STP and Company building. He directed the relevant authorities to ensure the use of high-quality materials in the construction and to complete it within the stipulated time.
Chief Engineer of CIU Mardan Engineer Imran Zaman briefed the Chief Executive Officer and stated that under KPCIP project a modern sewerage treatment plant will be constructed. Asian Development Bank (ADB) financed the project and the cost of project is 8.5 Billion rupees. He told through the sewerage treatment plant (STP) the domestic sewerage connections of six urban union councils will be connected for treatment. The construction work on Eighty two (82) kilometers sewerage network is in full swing and twenty (20) kilometer network is completed and the rest of work will be completed in the specified time. He was informed that Four thousand and three hundred (4300) manholes and thirteen thousand (13000) sewerage connections will be constructed. The STP is being built on seventeen (17) acres of land and it will treat six million gallons of wastewater on a daily basis through activated sludge process. A Grievance Redress Mechanism (GRM) has been set up for citizens’ complaints, ensuring that complaint is resolved immediately.
CEO WSSCM Shahid Khan shown satisfaction over the ongoing developmental work and urged that the construction of the sewage treatment plant will reduce the health and sanitation problems in the area. He also emphasized that no negligence will be tolerated in the project and directed the contractor to speed up the construction work on STP and Company building. He directed the concerned staff to take urgent steps to run the plant through solarization.
