A man working on a cargo ship miraculously survived after drifting in the ocean for 24 hours. This remarkable rescue was made possible through the efforts of a local fisherman and emergency response teams.
The incident occurred off the eastern coast of Australia and has been described as miraculous by many. The sailor (whose name has not been disclosed) drifted in the cold waters of the South Pacific Ocean for almost 24 hours.
A Japanese-owned cargo ship had arrived from Japan to Australia when the crew realized that one member was missing. The search began when the crew noticed the sailor had not reported for his duties, prompting immediate action.
The crew quickly notified Newcastle Port authorities, who alerted the police and the Australian Maritime Safety Authority, initiating a large-scale search operation. Rescue teams arrived at the scene with two boats, and later, helicopters were deployed to assist in the search.
The search efforts covered a 7-kilometer area along Newcastle’s coastline, using advanced technology to locate the missing sailor. Authorities noted that the extensive water currents made it a challenging search, as the man could not have drifted far, but navigating the ocean currents adds a significant difficulty.
The cold waters and powerful currents pose life-threatening dangers to anyone stranded overnight. The next day, a local fisherman spotted the missing sailor drifting in the sea, about 3.5 kilometers from the shore. The sailor, who was wearing a life jacket, appeared exhausted and was calling for help.
He was immediately transferred to a hospital for medical care, showing signs of hypothermia.
