ISLAMABAD: Rawalpindi deputy commissioner confirmed the restoration of traffic in the garrison city, saying that all roadblocks and containers have been removed from the city.
Both tracks of Murree Road and nearby thoroughfares have been opened and remaining obstacles are being removed, he said.
The official, however, added that the Murree Road at Faizabad remains closed as the Islamabad administration have the authority to open it and all ways connecting Pindi to the capital city.
Main arteries across Lahore have been opened for traffic after the removal of obstacles placed in the light of PTI’s call for protest at Minar-e-Pakistan.
Flow of traffic returned to normalcy at the exit and entry ways into Lahore.
The famous GT Road that connects Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with Punjab has been opened for traffic after a two-day closure.
The thoroughfare was blocked since Friday and the inter-province commuters and traders faced extreme inconvenience yesterday due to the situation.
The mobile phone service, which was suspended this morning in Peshawar, has been restored. However, internet services remain suspended in the city.
Islamabad authorities have taken into custody the state machinery brought from KP, sources affiliated with the district administration said.
They said that KP’s Rescue 1122 and fire brigade vehicles present in Islamabad were seized.
The KP government has approached the Peshawar High Court (PHC) against the disappearance of CM Ali Amin Gandapur.
KP Advocate General Shah Faisal said that a writ petition has been prepared in this regard and the court will be requested to take it up today.
