ISLAMABAD: The Lahore High Court (LHC) has ordered the removal of former Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi’s name from the Passport Control List (PCL), according to local sources on Tuesday. Justice Shams Mahmood Mirza presided over the hearing during which the court also ordered that the names of Rasikh Elahi and Zara Elahi be removed from the Exit Control List (ECL). The court’s decision came after Parvez Elahi and others filed a contempt petition. After the hearing, the court dealt with motions based on the public advocate’s report. This legal victory follows an earlier suit filed by Abuzar Salman Niazi on behalf of the Elahi family, seeking the removal of their names from the PCL so that they can travel abroad for Umrah. The cause of action alleged that the family’s inclusion in the PCL disrupted their travel plans. Pervaiz Elahi, who is also PTI president, recently emerged from a year-long legal battle and secured his release from jail. In a statement, Elahi expressed his gratitude to his supporters and judges, thanking them for standing up for the truth.
