LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Wednesday authorized the chairman of the Awami Muslim League (AML) to run in the upcoming general elections on February 8.
A three-member bench of the Lahore High Court (LHC) heard an appeal against a verdict that accepted former Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid’s nomination papers.
The LHC upheld the ruling of the appeal tribunal.

The petitioner claimed that the AML chief’s nomination papers were accepted, ignoring the facts. The petitioner then asked the LHC to overturn the appellate tribunal’s verdict.
The court denied Rashid’s petition against the acceptance of his nomination papers by NA-56 (Rawalpindi).
