ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Law and Justice Azam Nazeer Tarar met the Ambassador of Azerbaijan H.E. Khazar Farhadov. During the meeting, the Ambassador congratulated Pakistan on the recently signed Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) between the two nations and expressed optimism about its practical implementation and exploration of areas of common interest. He also emphasized Azerbaijan’s interest in expanding cooperation, especially in the legal field. The federal minister emphasized the close ties between the two countries and suggested extending an invitation to the Azerbaijani justice minister for an official visit to Pakistan. He further reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to support stronger legal aid cooperation and welcomed discussions on legislative developments in Pakistan that provide new incentives for foreign investment. The ambassador also requested support for Azerbaijani businesses operating in Pakistan, focusing on feasibility studies and orientation in the regulatory environment. The two sides discussed cooperation in legal education, training and capacity building for key stakeholders within their respective justice systems. To facilitate this cooperation, it was agreed to establish a small working group to finalize the modalities and open a channel of communication between the two countries. The meeting ended with both sides expressing their appreciation and reaffirming their commitment to deepen cooperation and work together to promote common interests.
