ISLAMABAD: Security officials have clarified that negotiations with the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) were conducted by the government in power at the time and not by the military. They stressed that the army is a state institution and remains in compliance with government orders. In a statement, security agencies questioned the rationale behind dealing with those responsible for shedding the blood of innocent Pakistanis. Regarding the ongoing trial of Faiz Hameed, officials confirmed that all relevant evidence is being reviewed. “Whatever Faiz Hameed did, he did at the behest of the then political regime,” security officials said. They further emphasized that there was an attempt to use the military for political purposes, with Hameed seeing himself as superior to the system and closely linked to a certain political ideology. In addition, security officials criticized individuals such as Adil Raja, accusing them of spreading disinformation from abroad, saying, “They know nothing and are peddling lies.” Regarding the security situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the officials claimed that they will withdraw from Lakki Marwat as soon as the provincial government requests it.
