LAHORE: “No road in Lahore should be paved,” said Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif as she chaired a high-level meeting on local governance to discuss drainage and sewerage, road repair and rehabilitation. “A sustainable drainage system must be created,” he said.
“WASA, MCL and other organizations should work in close coordination,” said Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. “People cannot bear the inconvenience caused by water on the road,” he said.
“All institutions should not focus on solving people’s problems,” said the Chief Minister. He also reviews progress in street lighting, parks and gardens in suburban communities.
The meeting was attended by Senator Pervaiz Rasheed, Senior Provincial Minister Marryum Aurangzeb, Provincial Minister of Local Government Zeshan Rafiq and Special Assistant Zeshan Malik. Chief Secretary, Head of P&D, Secretary, Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner Lahore, DG LDA and concerned officials were also present.
