Advocate Aftab Alam KP Law minister, has stated that Darra Adam Khel’s arms manufacturing industry is not only significant for the province but also for skilled workers across the country. He highlighted that a large portion of the country’s foreign reserve is spent annually on arms imports. However, declaring Darra Adam Khel as an industrial zone and providing training to skilled workers can significantly reduce expenses on arms imports.
He expressed these views on Monday during a meeting held at the Civil Secretariat Peshawar regarding the proposal to declare Darra Adam Khel an industrial zone.
The meeting was attended by the Special Assistant to CM KP for Industry Abdul Karim Tor Dher, along with MD KP-EZDMC, DS Industry, Planning Officer Industry, and officials from the Home and Law Departments.
Abdul Karim Tor Dher stated that the importance of Darra Adam Khel’s arms manufacturing cannot be overlooked. The government will take all possible measures to ensure the implementation of this project under the framework of rules and regulations and to provide all necessary facilities at the provincial level.
During the meeting, the Minister for Law emphasized the importance of rehabilitating the vocational training institute in Darra Adam Khel, deeming it essential for the establishment of the proposed industrial zone. Proposals were also made to promote the manufacturing of auto parts alongside arms production.
Additionally, the need for proactive measures regarding the sensitivity of arms sales and the establishment of a separate feeder for the industrial zone was underlined.
Abdul Karim Tor Dher highlighted the importance of involving relevant departments, fulfilling legal requirement and conducting technical staff visits to the area. He remarked that this project would benefit not only Darra Adam Khel but also the economy of the entire province.
