Provincial Government committed to Equipping Food Authority with advanced High tech Testing Equipments: says Food Minister Zahir Shah Toru
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Minister Zahir Shah Toru paid a visit to the Central Food Testing Laboratory in Hayatabad on Wednesday. The laboratory is operated by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority. During the visit, the minister was briefed on the ongoing civil work and the functional state-of-the-art testing equipment at the laboratory.
The Director General of the Food Authority Wasif Saeed along with other officials, including Director Administration Abdul Rehman, Director Operations Akhtar Nawaz, and Director Technical Dr. Abdul Sattar Shah, were present during the visit.
The minister was informed that the laboratory is equipped with modern food testing machinery, including MilkoScan, Meat Testing Lab, CDR, P-NIR, Idexx Solution, ELISA, and incubators. These machines are actively being used to analyze various food samples. Additionally, other equipment such as the TDS meter, I-Check Chroma, Sonicator, Laminar Flow Hood, Autoclave, and pH meter were reported to be fully functional.
Speaking on the occasion, Zahir Shah Toru stated that the Food Authority was established to ensure the scientific evaluation of edible items. He highlighted that, apart from the Central Food Testing Laboratory, the authority is also operating 12 mobile food testing laboratories across the province.
The minister noted that KP Government is the first province in Pakistan to employ MilkoScan technology for assessing the quality of milk. He emphasized that providing citizens with safe and high-quality food is the top priority of the provincial government.
“The government, led by Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur, is committed to further strengthening the Food Authority by providing it with modern equipment,” he said.
Zahir Shah Toru further remarked that ensuring the availability of safe food could significantly reduce the number of hospitalizations, contributing to a healthier society.
