Swabi: The Chief Secretary of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Nadeem Aslam Chaudhry, has pledged to expedite the ongoing development projects at Bacha Khan Medical Complex (BKMC-MTI) in Swabi and Gajju Khan Medical College (GKMC-MTI), During a visit to the hospital, the Chief Secretary, accompanied by the Deputy Commissioner Swabi, reviewed the progress of projects.
Dean GKMC, Prof. Dr. Shams-Ur-Rehman, Hospital Director BKMC, Dr. Khalid Masud, and Medical Director, Prof. Dr. Shahid Nisar Khalid, welcomed the chief secretary.
The Chief Secretary visited various hospital areas, including Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Dialysis Unit, HIV/Family Care Center, Infectious Diseases, and other areas of the hospital, Said BKMC Spokesperson.
Dr. Khalid Masud provided a comprehensive briefing on the healthcare services offered at BKMC. He emphasized the urgent need for advanced medical equipment, specifically MRI machine, CATH lab, and an additional CT scan for Emergency department. HD also highlighted the issue of electricity fluctuations, which disrupt healthcare delivery, said spokesperson.
The Chief Secretary assured the hospital administration of full cooperation from the provincial government. “To improve patient care and the operational capacity of BKMC, the KP government would support the administration in installing medical equipment and urgently address the electricity supply issues”, Said CS KP.
The spokesperson further mentioned that Dean Prof. Dr. Shams-Ur-Rehman informed the Chief Secretary about the construction delays on the college’s purpose-built building, which have been halted for several months due to financial constraints.
The Dean stated that despite these challenges, our medical college has achieved a 100% pass rate in the Khyber Medical University (KMU) annual examinations for three consecutive batches. Additionally, the Dean provided an update on the Nigar College of Nursing, emphasizing its role in addressing the nursing staff shortage.
