Pakistan’s new white ball coach Gary Kirsten has backed national team captain Babar Azam amid negative criticism from Pakistan supporters.
In a recent interview, Kirsten appreciated Babar’s outstanding performance as a cricketer and highlighted the important role he plays in the team.
He said it was important to relieve Babar of unnecessary pressure and allow him to express his natural talent without any restrictions.
“I have been in contact with Babar. He has done a fantastic job as a cricketer and he has carried the weight of the team on his shoulders. What we are trying to do as a coaching staff is to raise it up a bit. that he is part of the whole group of players and then he can free himself to play with his natural talent “Of course, he played a great innings in the last match against Ireland and we hope that Babar Azam, who always felt him. should contribute to the team, more,” said Kirsten.
Kirsten also explained the strategies used by some players to win the stage and create a dynamic team.
“It’s not fair to any player, but I think we can open up and feel that we have a lot of people who can win games, especially in T20 cricket, and put pressure on him, and I think he’s happy. to be captain again, to be captain and I want to work on that relationship with the coach,” he said.
Notably, the Men in Green won the three-match T20I series against Ireland 2-1.
The victory marked Pakistan’s first bilateral T20I series win since defeating the West Indies in December 2021.
Their next series before the 2024 World Cup is against England, with the four-match T20I series starting on May 22.
