In accordance with the model, structure and size of the vehicles, there exist a number of types of their tyres. The tyres types vary from speed limit and loading capacity. However, many of professional drivers and other car riders are not aware of these information which are really useful.
Different tyres have a speed limit with an expiration date also written on it. Side wall of the tyre contains such type of information.
For example, if you find “2124” written on the tyre, it means that this tyre was manufactured in the 21st week of the year 2024.
Usually, the lifespan of a tyre is 2 to 4 years, after which it should be replaced.
The speed limit of each tyre is indicated by an alphabetic letter. For example
The letter “L” means that the maximum speed of the tyre is 120 km/h.
The letter “M” means 130 km/h.
The letter “N” means 140 km/h.
The letter “P” means 150 km/h.
The letter “Q” means 160 km/h.
The letter “R” means 170 km/h.
And the letter “H” means that the tire can withstand speeds exceeding 210 km/h.
This is why tyres often burst during high speeds, because they cannot withstand pressure above the specified speed.
Therefore, always check the letters on your tires and pay attention to the speed.
