Kashmiri struggles for implementation of UNSC resolutions

Muzaffarabad: Chairman Pasban-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir Uzair Ahmed Ghazali has said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir have been struggling for their freedom for the last 76 years just to implement UNSC resolutions.

In a statement issued to the media here on Thursday, he said that India should follow the road map laid down in the United Nations resolution of January 5, 1949 for a peaceful settlement of the Kashmir issue.

He opined that permanent and sustainable peace cannot be established in South Asia without a fair solution to the Kashmir issue.

“True peace in the region including India and Pakistan and the state of Jammu and Kashmir depends on the just resolution of the Kashmir dispute according to the will and intention of the Kashmiri people”, Ghazali maintained.

He said that India has been trying to obstruct the way of the Kashmir dispute for the past 76 years and also spoiled the special status of this issue recognized at the international level.

Uzair said that the way Israel has opened the path of destruction in the entire Middle East by adopting the path of obstinacy and malice on the issue of Palestine, adding that similarly, India is engaged to incite chaos, terrorism and uncertainty in the region.

He said that the peace of the entire South Asia is at stake due to India’s stubbornness and being reluctant to adopt UNSC resolutions.

“The government of Narendra Modi is trying to suppress struggle of Kashmiris right to self determination through military force and other forceful measures”, he added.

He said that the illegal actions of the Delhi government on August 5, 2019 were violation of the UN resolutions on Jammu and Kashmir, which the Kashmiri people will never accept.

Ghazali said that the Kashmiri people have the right to decide their future according to their wishes and India should remember that its policies of repression will fail sooner or later completely in Occupied Kashmir.

He demanded the United Nations to play its role in resolving the Kashmir dispute according to its own resolutions as many Kashmiri people have sacrificed their lives for the implementation of these resolutions.
