Muzaffarabad: A rally was organized to observe the 13th martyrdom anniversary of Shaheed Muhammad Afzal Guru and 41st martyrdom day of Shaheed Muhammad Maqbool Bhatt under the aegis of Pasban-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir here on Sunday.
According to details, a large number of citizens gathered at Shaheed Afzal Guru Chowk Domel and paid homage to the martyrs.
The participants carried banners and placards on which the pictures of the two martyred leaders were displayed.
The participants of the rally marched on the main highways while chanting slogans like “Maqbool Teri Shahadat Se Inqalab Aye Ga”, “Guru Tere Shahadat Se Inqalab Aye Ga”, “Khoon Rang Laye Ga Inqalab Aye Ga” to pay homage to the martyrs.
Speakers on the occasion said that by hanging Muhammad Maqbool Butt on February 11, 1984 and Shaheed Muhammad Afzal Guru on February 13, 2013 in Tihar Jail, the Indian government declared its enmity, malice and enmity towards the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
Speakers paid tribute to Kashmiri leaders Muhammad Maqbool Bhatt and Muhammad Afzal Guru and said that both our heroes sacrificed their lives in the struggle for the freedom of Kashmir and people’s rights.
They said that India can never succeed in crushing the freedom spirit of the Kashmiri people by executions, bullets, jails and violence.
They said that the judiciary of India has always given biased and cruel decisions against Kashmir and the Kashmiri people.
Speakers stated that Maqbool Bhatt Shaheed and Afzal Guru Shaheed were sentenced to death despite insufficient evidence for political gain.
The speakers said that the Supreme Court of India had given a biased decision about Kashmir on December 11, 2023, which has been rejected by the Kashmiri people.
While addressing the rally, the speakers said that our leaders faced executions for the freedom of Kashmir, “thousands of Kashmiri prisoners, including senior leaders, women and youth, are still in the struggle of life and death in Indian jails”, they added.
“The funerals of Kashmiri leaders Muhammad Ashraf Khan Sehrai, Muhammad Altaf Shah, Syed Ali Gillani in the freedom movement against India took place from Indian prison”, they lamented.
They said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir will continue their resistance against Indian oppression and tyranny to achieve freedom.
Sepakers reiterated their determination to continue the mission of Kashmiri martyrs, to fight against Indian oppression and to continue the resistance till the achievement of their goal, saying that India knows that it will fail in all its conspiratorial plans to crush the resistance of Kashmiris.
Chairman Pasban-e-Hurriyat Uzair Ahmed Ghazali, Advocate Pervaiz Ahmad Shah, Shaukat Javed Mir, Sheikh Abdul Mateen, Mushtaq-ul-Islam, Chaudhry Shaheen Iqbal, Usman Ali Hashim, Ishaq Shaheen, Khawaja Mohammad Sadiq, Liaqat Ali Rana, Tanveer Durrani, Fayyaz Khan, Faisal Farooq and others also addressed the rally.
