Karachi: As predicted by the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), some areas of Karachi received rain and strong winds on Thursday, bringing relief to heat sufferers.
After the mercury crossed 40°C in the city at 2 am, the rains caused hot weather, Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said. Temperatures reached 53°C with 47% humidity, according to the Met Office.
Previously, PMD has predicted rain in the metropolis from today (Thursday), indicating that other cities or districts together may experience rain in the afternoon or evening.
The rain-hit parts of the megalopolis include Surjani City, Gulshan e Maymar, Malir, North Karachi, Water Pump, Road II Chundrigar, Bagh, Gulshan e Iqbal, FB area and nearby areas.
At the same time, strong winds blew over Gulistan-e-Johar and Gulshan-Iqbal.
Chief meteorologist Sardar Sarfraz said, “Temperatures will drop from tomorrow and we can expect heavy rains in some parts of the city. The next two to three days are expected to witness light to moderate rains in the afternoon.”
The weather forecast above said that the mercury will drop to 37°C-38°C in the coming days, with rain in Tharparkar and Umerkot and drifting towards Nawabshah.
