Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has banned the purchase of petrol-powered motorcycles in the capital Islamabad.
This decision was taken at a meeting held at the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to review the Development Project.
The meeting discussed progress on projects such as the renovation of the Federal Secretariat, the improvement of the Diplomatic Enclave and the introduction of smart parking solutions.
CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa gave details about this initiative.
Naqvi emphasized on making Islamabad a world-class city by including environmental measures such as procuring only electric bicycles and introducing environmentally friendly electric buses for public transport.
In addition, it will provide international standard emergency services by transferring responsibility from Islamabad Metropolitan Corporation (MCI) to CDA.
The establishment of the Capital Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA Capital) is also underway.
Naqvi informed that construction work on Serena Chowk underpass and F-9 Park Chowk flyover project will start soon.
Delayed development in underdeveloped sectors of Islamabad will also be accelerated.
The Islamabad Model Jail project, which has been stalled for 17 years, is progressing rapidly and the first phase will be completed on time.
The meeting congratulated Naqvi and the CDA team on tax collection and stressed the need to develop institutional properties in addition to the sale of land and land.
