Despite possessing missiles capable of reaching Israeli targets within minutes, Iran opted for slower missiles and drones to avoid interception en route. This deliberate choice aimed to deter Israel from thwarting the drones before they reached their designated targets. Had Iran used high-speed missiles, Israel might have retaliated aggressively, escalating regional tensions into a perilous conflict.
Iran’s strategic response mirrors Pakistan’s approach in 2019 after the Balakot strikes, showcasing restraint and emphasizing a commitment to peace. Similarly, Iran’s decision to employ slower drones and missiles created global apprehension, suggesting that a significant missile launch had occurred. This disturbance disrupted the sleep of the Israeli populace, providing a period of reflection for Israel and the United States.
Iran’s actions conveyed its capability to swiftly render Israel vulnerable, yet underscored its preference for peace and stability. Any future hostile actions, like the attack on the Syrian embassy, could provoke a more substantial response from Iran.
