Islamabad: Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) has formed POA Sports Commission and Disciplinary Committee to improve the organization of games and disciplinary matters in the country.
According to details, in light of the International Olympic Committee’s guidelines, POA President Arif Said has approved the formation of both committees. Consequently, POA Disciplinary Committee has been formed under the chairmanship of Secretary Army Sports Board, Lieutenant Colonel Nabil Ahmed Rana.
POA Deputy Secretary General Muhammad Jahangir will be the secretary of the committee, while its members include Parvez Ahmed (Gymnastics), Nazhat Jabeen (Weightlifting), Ejaz Ali (Table Tennis), Professor Ahmad Bilal (Fencing), Sohail Ahmed Khan (Balochistan Olympic), Haider Usman Advocate, and Muhammad Imran.
POA Sports Commission will be headed by Director Army Sports Directorate Brigadier Mujtaba Haider, while POA Secretary General Muhammad Khalid Mahmood will be its secretary. Members of the commission include Rizwan ul Haq (Athletics), Fauzi Khawaja (Rugby), Ahmad Ali Rajput (Gymnastics), Umer Aslam Malik (WAPDA), Tariq Parvez (Bodybuilding), Shamsa Hashmi (Volleyball), Rana Amjad Iqbal (HEC), and Imran Ahmed.
The Disciplinary Committee will handle all matters under the established framework, including ensuring the protection of athletes. Meanwhile, POA Sports Commission will have the authority to make decisions on national games, inter-provincial games, and other sports programs and policies.
