ANKARA: Inter Milan defeated 10-man Napoli 1-0 to win their third consecutive Italian Super Cup (Supercoppa Italiana) in Saudi Arabia on Monday evening.
Following Benjamin Pavard’s low cross near the six-yard box, Inter’s Argentine sensation Lautaro Martinez scored the decisive goal in the 91st minute to lift the cup.
On the hour mark, Giovanni Simeone was sent off for a foul at Riyadh’s Al-Awwal Park, leaving Napoli with 10 men. He had already been booked.
Simone Inzaghi’s side therefore won their eighth Super Cup in tournament history.
Juventus holds the record for most wins, with nine.
