Despite all the claims of Statistics Department the rulers have failed to control the artificial inflation of sugar and other food items in the open market.
All the claims have been invalidated by the decrease in prices of food in the open market of Peshawar and other cities of the province before Ramadan, while the federal government is highlighting the decrease figures of inflation that is issuing the Statistics Department.
According to the reports the pace of increase in prices was at one of the lowest levels since November 2015, the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet on Monday “expressed concerns over the rising prices of sugar, vegetables, and edible oil.” The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) reported on Monday that inflation, measured by the Consumer Price Index (CPI), eased to 2.4% in January compared to the same month last year.
In the open market sugar is selling on RS.165 rice RS. 300 and eatable oil of middle quality is selling on RS 615 and No. quality oil on RS.665 per liter and it’s estimated the of important foods and merchandises could be hike up to ten to twenty before the begging of holy month of Ramadan.
Although the government is claiming that its policies are up to the point regarding reducing the inflation rate by 2.24 percent but as like the concerns of economic coordination committee the open market is telling the opposite story.
May be the above figure of reduction in inflation are important for the top businessman elite salaried class, that can spend their billions rupees on businesses and can save hundreds of thousands of rupees but lower salaried class those are earing 30000 to 50000 thousands rupees have no concern on that two percent reduction in inflation, because in open market they buying expensive commodities and food items.
Despite positive trends, the ECC expressed concern over rising prices of sugar, vegetables, and edible oil, particularly in light of declining international prices, according to a press statement by the finance ministry.
The ECC directed the Ministry of Industries and Production and the Ministry of National Food Security & Research to collaborate with the National Price Monitoring Committee (NPMC) and report back within two weeks with measures to ensure strategic reserves of wheat, sugar, and pulses, as well as improve supply chains ahead of the holy month of Ramazan.
The ECC expressed satisfaction with the ongoing decline in the Sensitive Price Index (SPI) over the past few weeks. However, the chair emphasised that reductions in core inflation, average inflation, and downward price trends should translate into tangible relief for the common man.
The ECC also called upon Provincial Price Control Committees to enforce strict compliance with price control mechanisms, curb cartelisation, and prevent undue profiteering to protect consumers from unfair price hikes.
Meanwhile the uncertainty is the other big problem of the inflations effected society. In our country masses feeling insecurity when they have come out from their houses because of culprits attacks on common citizens, even the polio eradication worker are not save.
Mostly the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan are the main target of the terrorist and culprits
Meanwhile, insurgency in Kurram has still been blowing into the noses of ordinary citizens, so the provincial and federal governments will have to play their role to bring lasting peace in Kurram. If this issue had been paid attention to in the previous governments, things would not have become so bad that the citizens are facing today.
So it is the need of time that both the federal and provincial government could pay keen attention to the issue to mild the situation between the two sects of area because that sectarian issue is pawing the for more terrorism in the country.
