SIALKOT: Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) extended a warm welcome to Charger D’affaires Rahmat Hindiarta Kusuma and First Secretary for Political Affairs Ferry J. Murdians Embassy of Pakistan.
The purpose of the visit to Sialkot is to strengthen ties with the business community and explore ways to enhance trade cooperation between Pakistan and Indonesia.
In his congratulatory speech, SCCI Senior Vice President Wahub Jahangir highlighted the longstanding historical and cultural ties between the two countries. He said, it is important to build a relationship between the Indonesian private sector and Sialkot businessmen so that Indonesian companies can buy quality Pakistani products, especially in sectors such as surgical instruments, work clothes, gloves, sports goods and sports clothes. , enjoying high demand in Indonesia.
He highlighted significant progress in bilateral relations between Pakistan and Indonesia in 2023, especially focusing on economic cooperation through government-to-government dialogue. Jahangir also praised SCCI’s social sector development and welfare initiatives, highlighting the transformative impact of projects initiated by the chamber such as Sialkot International Airport, Sialkot Dryport Trust and various other development companies. Recommending an easier visa policy for tourists interested in Indonesia, especially businessmen, SVP SCCI Jahangir suggested increasing people-to-people contact.
The dignitaries recognized the diverse industrial landscape of Sialkot and expressed Indonesia’s view of Pakistan as a promising trade partner. He reaffirmed the historic ties between the two countries and said that developing stronger business ties would improve bilateral ties.
Addressing the business community in Sialkot, Kusuma proposed to improve relations between businesses from the two countries to facilitate cooperation and joint ventures. He also expressed keen interest in SCCI’s documentary film “Salkot, the City of Growth” which was screened at the meeting.
