LAHORE: Federal Minister for Industries and Production Rana Tanveer Hussain on Monday expressed solidarity with the Kashmiri people and termed India’s decision to revoke the special status of Jammu and Kashmir as a grave violation of UN Security Council resolutions.
He stated this in an exclusive interview with APP on the occasion of ‘Youm-e-Istehsal (Day of Exploitation) observed in Pakistan against the illegal and unilateral actions of India to revoke the special status of Kashmir on August 5, 2019.
On this momentous occasion, Rana Tanveer Hussain lauded the sacrifices made by the Kashmiri people in their struggle for self-determination and emphasized that India’s unilateral and illegal actions are a clear violation of many UN Security Council resolutions which demanded that the final decision on the future of Jammu and Kashmir be made by the will of the Kashmiri people through a free, impartial UN-supervised referendum.
Hussain further said that Kashmiri people are making great sacrifices against India’s illegal and oppressive occupation. With its brutal actions in Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, India is violating international laws that have serious consequences for South Asia and the entire region.
He stressed that resolving the Jammu and Kashmir dispute in accordance with UN Security Council resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people is the only way to ensure sustainable peace and stability in the region.
Rana Tanveer Hussain paid tribute to all the martyrs of Occupied Kashmir for their timeless sacrifices and expressed admiration to their families for their determination and courage. He assured that Pakistan would continue to voice the concerns of its Kashmiri brothers and sisters and provide all possible support in asserting their legitimate rights.
