Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Buluch rejected India’s view on the Foreign Ministry’s joint statement on Jammu and Kashmir by Pakistan and China and demanded that India abide by the UN resolution.
“India has no right to object to the reference to Jammu and Kashmir in the joint Pakistan-China statement of June 8,” an FO spokesperson said late on Wednesday.
The statement came in response to media inquiries about the Indian minister’s comments on June 13. Buluch said Jammu-Kashmir is a disputed territory and the dispute is on the agenda of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC).
In a joint Pakistan-China statement, Pakistan briefed the Chinese government on the latest developments in the situation in Jammu and Kashmir.
Indian External Affairs Ministry spokesman Randhir Jaiswal rejected “baseless references to Jammu and Kashmir” by Pakistan and China.
“We have shown baseless references to Jammu and Kashmir in the joint statement between China and Pakistan. We absolutely reject such references,” he said.
“The Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and the Union Territory of Ladakh have been and will be and will continue to be an integral and integral part of India,” he said.
Spokesperson FO Buluch said Jammu-Kashmir is an internationally disputed territory and the dispute has been on the agenda of the UNSC for more than seventy years.
Also, the relevant UNSC resolution has made it clear that the final status of the state of Jammu and Kashmir will be determined by the will of the people United Nations.
In that background, India’s claim to Jammu and Kashmir is completely baseless and wrong.
Buluch said that instead of making unreasonable demands on CPEC, India should implement the UN resolution on Jammu and Kashmir as soon as possible.
