In the provincial capital of Lahore, citizens have started taking measures on their own to protect themselves from smog. Compared to previous years, the demand for air purifiers has increased this year, leading to a rise in prices. The cost of air purifiers in the market now ranges from 28,000 to 200,000 rupees.
According to shopkeepers, air purifiers are equipped with four filters that draw in polluted air and filter out the particles, providing clean air. This year, the prices of air purifiers have increased significantly, starting at 28,000 rupees and going up to 200,000 rupees.
On the other hand, citizens are expressing concerns that they now have to pay for clean air to breathe.
Meanwhile, a decision has been made to install air purifiers across all districts of Punjab to combat smog. In this regard, the Director General of Environment, Imran Hamid Sheikh, has issued a notification.
All shopping malls in Punjab have been instructed to install air purifiers, especially in Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan, and Gujranwala divisions, where the air quality index is severely compromised.
