According to Indian media reports, Lalit Dhiman, a resident of Bhairan Jattan village in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh, was shocked to see his electricity bill for December 2024.
The citizen had paid a bill of 2,500 Indian rupees in November, but his December bill amounted to 2 billion, 104 million, 408 thousand, and 405 Indian rupees.
Upon the citizen’s complaint, the electric board attributed the error to a system malfunction and assured that a corrected bill would be issued. Later, the citizen was given a revised bill of 4,047 Indian rupees.
