ISLAMABAD: Finance and Revenue Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb presided over a meeting of the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the government on Friday, which approved the import of 100,000 metric tonnes (MT) of urea.
The committee decided on the proposal of the Ministry of Industry and Production with the aim of ensuring sufficient supplies of urea on the market.
“This will also ensure stability in fertilizer prices during the cropping season,” the finance division said in a press release. The meeting was attended by Industries and Production Minister Rana Tanveer Hussain, Petroleum Minister Musadik Masood Malik, Power Minister Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari, Economic Affairs Minister Ahad Khan Cheema, Governor SBP, Chairman SECP, Deputy Chairman Planning Commission, MD PASSCO, TCP Chairman, Federal Secretaries and other senior officials of the respective Ministries.
