Islamabad: The illegal installation of tube wells is taking place openly, and the underground water level has dangerously decreased. The water issue in the Federal Capital’s central zones, F-13 and F-12, has worsened due to illegal boring activities. The underground water level has dropped to a concerning extent. According to details, due to population growth, the water that used to be extracted from a depth of 150 feet is now being taken from hundreds of feet deep, as the earth’s layers have dried up. Despite this, people in the city are still seen carrying buckets to fetch water, while illegal tube wells are being installed and boring is happening. This is causing injustice to the residents, and it is crucial to discourage these activities. The Islamabad High Court has imposed a ban on private boring and tube well installations, but despite this, open violations of the law are taking place in central and peripheral areas of the city. Residents have expressed concern, stating that if the illegal boring continues at this rate, the Federal Capital will turn into a desert in the coming years. They have urged the CDA and Islamabad administration to enforce court orders and take strict action against those involved in illegal boring and the government officials allegedly involved in this illicit business.
