Islamabad District and Additional Sessions Judge Afzal Majoka Court adjourned the hearing of PTI founder Bushra Bibi’s appeal against the Iddat Nikkah verdict.
Bushra Bibi’s legal team, including Khalid Yusuf Chaudhry and Usman Riaz Gul, appeared in court.
PTI’s lawyers submitted a written order from the Islamabad High Court on Thursday.
Usman Riaz Gul urged the court to continue the hearing the next day and said, “We are still there, listen now.”
“I downloaded the judgment and read it,” said Judge Afzal Majoka.
The IHC has read the verdict and will decide whether to postpone the verdict until June 27.
“Tomorrow is not possible; fix the date next Friday,” said Judge Majoka.
“I am writing an order. This will be more than a warning; look at history,” said Hakim Majoka.
Women in the port city of Karachi have expressed displeasure at the expected price hike of essential makeup products after the government decided to increase the tax on cosmetics in the 2024 budget.
Eyelashes, glosses, face powders, foundations, mascaras, lipsticks and nail polishes are all expected to become more expensive, raising concern among consumers who rely on these products for their daily beauty routine.
The proposed budget includes a 5-7 percent tax increase on various facial and beauty products, further increasing the financial burden on consumers.
Traders in the city also expect sales to drop if prices rise as expected.
They stressed that any increase in expenditure due to high taxes would directly affect the affordability and purchasing power of consumers.
“If the price goes up, sales will go down,” said a shopkeeper.
It is suggested that the government should review tax increases on beauty products and provide incentives to ensure access to basic beauty products.
