ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration has stepped up efforts to curb plastic pollution and has decided to initiate a massive crackdown to stop the use of polythene bags in the federal capital.
According to the ICT administration spokesperson, eight teams have been formed to enforce the plastic bag ban across the city.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Islamabad Irfan Nawaz Memon has announced a robust plan to reduce the use of plastic bags in the city. And ICT management teams to crack down on the use of these bags in various areas. These teams would function under the supervision of Deputy Municipal Commissioners, the spokesperson added.
On this occasion, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized the collective responsibility of all citizens to help in removing polythene bags. He said that the widespread use of plastic bags is a major contributor to environmental pollution. The Deputy Commissioner appealed to the residents to support the efforts of the district administration in this crackdown on plastic bags. The aim is to create a cleaner and healthier environment for everyone in Islamabad.
