LAHORE: As many as 200 Hindu pilgrims from India will arrive in Pakistan through the Wagah border on Wednesday, March 6, to participate in the Shivratri festivities.
Maha Shivratri, a Hindu festival, is celebrated in honor of the deity Shiva between February and March every year. An auspicious day will be celebrated this year between March 8 (21:27) and March 9 (17:47).
One takes a holy bath and performs puja by lighting a diya with desi ghee before Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati.
Senior officials of the Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) and local Hindus the leaders welcome the pilgrims.
The main ceremony of Maha Shivratri will be organized by ETPB in the historic Katas Raj Chakwal Temple on March 9 (Saturday) to attend
by various political, social and religious leaders.
ETPB Secretary Rana Shahid Saleem said this in light of the ETPB orders Chairman Arshad Farid Khan, all arrangements including security, accommodation and transportation of pilgrims have been completed.
Hindu pilgrims will return to Lahore from Katas Raj in Chakwal on March 10 (Saturday).
It is planned to visit Krishna Temple, Shahi Qila (Lahore Fort) and more historic sites in Lahore on March 11 and India’s return on March 12 (Monday).
